What causes PDF corruption?
Incomplete downloads, storage device failures, file transfer errors, virus infections, software crashes during saving and file system corruption are common causes.
Can all corrupted PDFs be repaired?
Not always — repair success depends on how severely the file is damaged. Minor structural corruption is often fixable. Severely damaged files may only be partially recoverable.
What if the repair fails?
If repair fails, try opening in a different PDF reader (Chrome browser, Preview on Mac), check if you have an older backup copy, or contact the sender for a fresh copy.
Does repair affect PDF quality?
Successful repair restores the PDF to working condition without affecting quality. In some cases, severely corrupted sections cannot be recovered and may appear blank or garbled.
