Box Volume Calculator

Calculate the volume of boxes, cylinders, spheres, cones and other shapes.

What is this tool?

A box volume calculator is a free geometry tool that calculates the volume of any rectangular box, cuboid or container. Enter the length, width and height to instantly get the volume in cubic centimetres, cubic metres, cubic inches, cubic feet or litres — ideal for shipping, storage and construction.

How to Use — Step by Step

1
Enter dimensionsType in the length, width and height of your box or container.
2
Select your unitChoose from centimetres, metres, inches, feet or millimetres.
3
View volume resultSee the volume in multiple units simultaneously — cubic units and litres/gallons — so you can use whichever is most useful.

Common Uses

📦
Shipping & Packaging

Calculate the volume of packages to determine shipping costs, which are often based on dimensional weight.

🏗️
Construction

Calculate concrete volume needed for foundations, pillars and rectangular structures.

🛢️
Storage Planning

Work out how much fits in a storage container, warehouse bay or removal van.

🌊
Aquariums & Tanks

Calculate the water capacity of fish tanks, ponds and water storage tanks in litres.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the volume of a box?

Volume = Length × Width × Height. All three measurements must be in the same unit. For example: 30cm × 20cm × 15cm = 9,000 cm³.

How do I convert cubic centimetres to litres?

1 litre = 1,000 cubic centimetres. Divide cm³ by 1,000 to get litres. For example: 9,000 cm³ ÷ 1,000 = 9 litres.

What is dimensional weight in shipping?

Dimensional weight (DIM weight) = Length × Width × Height ÷ DIM factor. Carriers charge whichever is greater — actual weight or DIM weight.

Can I calculate the volume of other shapes?

This tool calculates rectangular boxes. For cylinders, spheres and other shapes, use the appropriate formula.
